Hi, my name is Samantha Haugen, and I am the Creator of Running Gray Nature Photography. I have always loved photography. It has always been a part of my life for a while but as I got older, I have become more interested in it. I take a lot of Nature/Landscape and wildlife pictures. I created Running Gray Nature Photography because I wanted to be able to show people the kind of views that are out there that they might not know about. Rapid City, SD has always been home to me so when I had the chance to move back out here from Dodge Center MN, I took it.
I got into photography later in life, but the reason I like photography is that no matter where you go something is always going to catch your eye and look more beautiful than it already does. Also, when you are taking a picture of something if you just wait a couple seconds it going to give you a completely different view again. With nature/landscape and even wildlife there is always something different you never really get the same picture more then once. And if you do your lucky.
With me being a Hiker I am outside a lot. I can take a lot of my picture when I am out on a new trail or even a trail that I have taken many times before. I enjoy taking pictures of different places here in South Dakota, but I also like taking pictures of different places wherever I visit. I have taken pictures in Minnesota, Montana, Wyoming and some in South Carolina as well.
A few of my photography pictures I am proud of is the one I call Nothing but Orange. I took that picture one summer when I was out at Angostura Lake SD. I took a few pictures of that same view but none of them turned out like that. Nothing but Orange make you feel like you at a beach on some island instead of at a lake in SD. The next pictures id have to say I’m proud of would be my Spearfish Canyon pictures. Those were the first picture I took when I moved back out to South Dakota, and they are the biggest reason why I wanted to get into photography. Even though a lot of people see Spearfish canyon I was able to capture a different point of view of it. The colors on each piece a elegant and bright.
